I was born in Nebraska, and lived in California, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, South Carolina, Illinois, North Carolina, Minnesota, and most recently Paris.

I'm grateful for the opportunities I've had to see much of the country, and more than my fair share of the world.

If I'm not reading or traveling, I'm writing: currently I'm finishing a series of short stories centered in rural America, some of which have been published, and a novel about freedom.

My Southern friends suggest I have a Yankee accent, my Midwestern friends hear echoes of the South. According to multiple Parisians, I speak French with a Belgian accent. I suppose I'll write more and speak less.
